This project is funded by the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) for the City of Chicago in association with the Far South Community Development Corporation.
Tell us what you think by taking the 119th Street Corridor Plan Survey.
Thank you for the recommendations Ms. Jessica and Joyce Shaw. We will be sure to reflect job training/employment and the addition of restaurants/family entertainment/retail/health care facilities to the Corridor in the plan.
I would love to see an organization that focuses of skills gap development and employment rehabilitation such as training community members to fill understaffed career paths. The City of Chicago has an initiative to partner with organizations and schools to provide training programs to meet corporate job demands.
Suggestions: A nice dine in Soul Food restaurant like Flavor (in Hazel Crest); along with name brand affordable dine-in restaurants such as Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Famous Dave’s. Anita’s Gumbo (a dine in would be fantastic); Chipotle; a Hibachi Grill; tutoring center; music studio; medical offices; a CVS with a minute clinic. A strip mall with Ross, Marshalls, a movie theatre, etc. A dinner club that offers live entertainment or a decent night club with live entertainment; Chase bank with Drive Up option.
