Thank you for your input Creola Hampton. We have received similar feedback and will refer to the site as the 119th Street Corridor study area. We are working with several community organizations in the area to promote upcoming meetings and information through different venues, but will be sure to emphasize posting flyers along the Corridor and distributing them at local institutions. There are a lot of opportunities for economic development along the Corridor and all are being looked at carefully, please take a look at the Existing Conditions Report (under the Documents tab) for a detailed retail analysis on the study area.

If the corridor ends at Union Street, then this is NOT a “West Pullman” project or community but a Washington Heights to Roseland project/ community. It’s misleading to community residents and the general public to continue to refer to it as such. Email is good, but posting easy-to-see/read, highly visible signage along the corridor — especially from the Kroc Center to Union (two blocks west of Halsted) will help residents be more aware and participatory in meetings and planning. There are rumors that a seniors building and bowling alley will be on 119th near Halsted – then a Mariano’s on 115th Halsted. Seniors won’t be able to afford Mariano’s, majority of Roseland residents either — is the plan to “drive traffic” from Pullman (it couldn’t be to promote to Beverly residents since there is Mariano’s opening on 95th Near Western).
